Jays World Series Win Would Boost Canadian Agri-food Exports!

There has always been a strong sports rivalry between Canada and the US, but this year it feels different, doesn’t it? I think all the shenanigans – the 51st state, tariffs, fake fentanyl news, etc. – has sparked something beyond the “elbows up” movement we saw in the early part of 2025. I felt it in the Four Nations Cup and I’m feeling again with the Jays in the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series.

I don’t want to put any more pressure on the Toronto Blue Jays as we head into game three of the #WorldSeries – they are doing a great job holding the hopes of a nation on their shoulders. But, as we look to double our non-US exports in the next decade I started wondering if there was any impact on Canadian agri-food exports (yes, I’m probably the ONLY one who is thinking about this, but anyway…).

The answer is ‘yes’! Winning the World Series will help boost Canadian Agri-Food Exports. I’ll leave FCC / FAC or Statistics Canada | Statistique Canada to come up with a less tenuous causal relationship between winning and export success, but in the meantime…

#GOJAYS!
